Natarajasana - I am getting hooked to it

Natarajasana was one of the first Asanas that I started doing in my quest to get rid of back pain.

Natarajasana - left leg

Even before I started practising it some 10 months ago, I knew how the purna-natarajasana looked like. In my mind the ongoing strife was to reach that level. That is to say, hold the leg with both hands, and touch your foot to your head.

Just as Bruce Lee used to say, "In your mind you must aim to strike one inch deeper than the target. Only then will you be able to achieve that hit."

Durga, this is a great blog, and very informative as well with all the text and links. I hear that YogaNidra is a useful book on yoga. What are your thoughts on it?

Thank you Shankar for your encouraging words.

Yoganidra is indeed supposed to be a very good book written by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.

Unfortunately I haven't read that. However, I have a copy of his Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha which I believe one of the comprehensive books on Yoga I have ever come across.

This book is available at Urban Yoga, 100 fit Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore. Price Rs.200/-

Hi Durga,
Thanks for sharing this. Looks good. I have been in excruciating back pain for past few weeks and I will like to connect with you for Yoga. Keep going. I think with Yoga we have something in our hand rather than running to chiropractors and doctors.
Thanks,Anurag ( IIML- 97-99)

Hi Anurag,

Thank you for posting. I am going to post my experience in dealing with back pain shortly.

I shall start from handling acute pain - near slip disk. For slip disk however, enrolling with a yoga practitioner with a speacialisation in therapeutic yoga will be called for.

Here's wishing a slow but steady recovery for you.
